Set Sail in Style: A Feature on a Yacht Captain

Give us the scoop on your day-to-day working on a Yacht! Where are you currently based? 

I’m currently a Yacht Captain running charters based out of the Caribbean. I grew up sailing at the Jersey Shore and have always loved being on boats and in the water.

It’s so fun to share my passion for boating and travel with all of my guests. I get to meet people from all around the world which is another huge perk!

Tell us about your day to day looks - what are your boat closet staples? 

While I run my charter’s, I need to be in uniform - but I get to style it a bit with shorts, headbands and my sunnies. I practically live in Lulu Lemon’s Hotty Hot Shorts and Alo tennis skirts. I would die without polarized sunglasses, so my Ray-Bans are always on!

And of course - I have a lot of different bathing suits for whatever activity we are doing!

How do you add your own style into your bathing suit/boat looks? Knowing that function is almost as important as fashion in this case. 

I love to buy bright colors, because everything fades so quickly in the sun! Free People has a great surf/swim collection, and I have a really cute neoprene surf suit for longer swims and snorkels when the water starts to get chilly. On days where I need to be more active I tend to reach for one-piece suits!

I am always adding hats and sunglasses to accessorize my look and show my personal style.

Where do you buy your bathing suits? Any favorite brands?

My main bathing suit brands are Solid and Striped, Mikoh, Vitamin A, and Hunza G. My pink Hunza G bikini is my current favorite. They are a bit pricey but so worth it—if you don’t have one, put it on your Christmas list!
